We believe data should be beautiful.

Scrollchart is a free library of interactive infographics and animated diagrams. We built it because the modern web reads better with the right diagram in the right place - and because the right diagram should not cost you a subscription.

The problem we’re solving

Long-form content is in trouble. Readers skim, bounce, leave. Static infographics from 2018 are now Core Web Vitals liabilities - too heavy, too pixelated on mobile, invisible to crawlers. Video kills first paint. The remaining options are mediocre at best: watermarked screenshots from a paid SaaS, hand-drawn doodles, or yet another stock-photo chart.

We thought the web deserved a better default. So we built one.

The philosophy

Every diagram in the catalog weighs ~25 KB gzipped. Lazy-loaded. SVG-based. No video, no canvas, no third-party iframe. The kind of weight you’d add to a page intentionally, not the kind your developer flags in a perf audit.

Every embed includes a short editorial paragraph - the kind of caption a thoughtful writer would have written if they’d had the time. The paragraph is genuinely educational, fact-checked, and updated centrally so old embeds stay current.

And every embed is free. Forever. For sites that play fair.

Now available in every major language. Prompt the AI generator in English, French, Spanish, German, Mandarin, Hindi, Arabic, Japanese, Portuguese, or dozens more - diagram labels, axis titles, and source lines render in the language of the prompt.

How we keep it free

The diagram and explainer text are served from scrollchart.com so the content can be updated over time, the same way a published article gets refreshed when new research comes out. Sometimes that update adds a link inside the explainer to a relevant source, the way a Wikipedia footnote points to a paper. The reader gets a more useful explainer. You do nothing.

You acknowledge this once, when you copy the embed code. There is no paywall, no premium tier, no “upgrade for unlimited.” The entire catalog stays free, forever.

What we’re not

• We are not a chart-authoring tool. We don’t replace Canva or Visme. The catalog is curated; the AI generator routes prompts to existing templates.
• We are not a “Powered by” widget badge. The link, when it appears, is contextual and editorial - not a brand-anchored homepage link on every site.
• We are not tracking your readers. No pixels, no fingerprints, no third-party iframes serving ads.
• We are not going to surprise you with a paywall. Free forever for compliant sites. If we ever change that - for example with a paid SLA tier for enterprise newsrooms - the existing free embed catalog stays free.

Who is behind this

Scrollchart is run by a small team of engineers, scientists, and writers. We started by animating biology and supplement-mechanism diagrams for our own science-blog network, realized the catalog was useful far beyond our original audience, and opened it up.

We respond to every email. We ship new diagrams every week. We will probably never have a sales team.
